The results of the study indicated that acquaintance stalking victims frequently encountered a combination of verbal harassment, unwelcome sexual advances, and sexual coercion. This was coupled with detrimental views on their social identity, encompassing both self-worth and perceived relational abilities. Women who were subjected to sexual assault reported a higher incidence of threats, controlling and possessive behavior, severe physical violence, fear connected to stalking, sexual harassment, a negative social identity, and a lower level of sexual autonomy compared to those who were not sexually assaulted. Multivariate analyses showed that a combination of sexual assault, amplified unwanted sexual attention, elevated sexual coercion, decreased safety efficacy, and worsened negative social identity perceptions were linked to sexual difficulties, while a combination of sexual assault, improved safety efficacy, reduced resource losses, and fewer negative social identity perceptions were connected to increased sexual autonomy. Hence, a standardized tool was designed to measure the prevalence of domestic violence myths, along with an assessment of its psychometric characteristics. Based on the findings of three studies, one of which used cross-sectional and longitudinal datasets, the instrument's design was developed. Within Study 1, a factor analysis of explanatory variables, performed on a sample of 259 emerging adults, predominantly college students, uncovered a definitive three-factor structure. In Study 2, using a separate group of 330 emerging adults, largely comprised of college students, we confirmed the factor structure through confirmatory factor analysis. Concurrent validity was also evidenced by the data we presented. Study 3's longitudinal analysis revealed the predictive validity of our newly created scale among both dating and non-dating emerging adults, largely comprising college students. Three research studies suggest that the Dating Violence Myths scale is a valuable, standardized, and novel instrument for evaluating beliefs concerning dating violence. Childhood adversity, including the high prevalence of economic hardship and family violence, is a risk factor for poor health in later life, especially among children of military conscripted fathers. Using self-reported health data from older Japanese adults, we investigated how their fathers' military service during World War II and their subsequent deaths in the conflict influenced their well-being. A population-based cohort of functionally independent people, 65 years of age or older, was studied in 39 municipalities across Japan in 2016, yielding the obtained data. Through a self-report questionnaire, data on PMC and SRH was collected. A multivariate logistic regression analysis of 20286 participants aimed to identify the association between poor health and the co-occurrence of PMC and PWD. Using a causal mediation analysis approach, the investigators sought to determine if childhood economic hardship and family violence mediated the association. In the participant cohort, 197% indicated experiencing PMC, with 33% specifically identifying as PWD. After adjusting for age and sex, the study found a stronger association between PMC and poor health in older adults (odds ratio [OR] 1.16, 95% confidence interval [CI] 1.06–1.28), while PWD was not correlated with poor health (odds ratio [OR] 0.96, 95% confidence interval [CI] 0.77–1.20). Childhood family violence exerted a mediating influence on the link between PMC and poor health outcomes, accounting for a significant portion of the observed relationship (69% mediated). Economic challenges failed to mediate the relationship. Exposure to family violence during childhood, a factor partially accounting for the heightened risk of poor health in older age, was more prevalent among PMC individuals than PWD. The health consequences of war are intergenerational, continuing to influence the health of children as they grow older.
